Please contact me via email to discuss or book a tour:

caroline.piper@yahoo.co.uk

Please include your name, contact information, preferred date for the tour, group size and if you are interested in a tailor-made tour, a private group tour (of one of my themed tours, neighbourhood walking tours or museum / gallery visits), or a virtual tour.

I will respond within 48 hours.

Rates (for tailor-made tours):

FOR TRAVEL TRADE:

From 1 April 2020: my rates are £176 for a half day tour (up to 4 hours) and £288 for a full day tour (up to 9 hours)

FOR DIRECT CLIENTS: I charge a small supplement to contribute towards the time and costs incurred in communication and tour organisation.

From 1 April 2020: my rates are £190 for a half day tour (up to 4 hours) and £305 for a full day tour (up to 9 hours)

*Half day morning tours should finish by 13:00.  Half day afternoon tours can start from 13:30 / 14:00.

*Tours should begin and end in central London, otherwise travel expenses and time will be charged

*Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and in line with other Blue Badge Tourist Guides, I have frozen my rates.  There will be no increase in my prices until 1 April 2022.  I hope this helps both direct clients and my travel trade partners to rearrange affected itineraries in confidence and without extra cost.

Longer tours

For extended days (more than 9 hours) I will quote separately.

I am happy to design extended itineraries (more than 2 days) for which I will provide detailed itinerary planning and guidance on tickets.  In these circumstances I will charge a tour planning fee (usually 10-15% of my guiding fee).

Private Group Tours

Private group tours (usually booked by British cultural, educational or social groups) last approx 2-2.5 hours and include my walking tours, themed tours and museum / gallery tours.

Normal minimum group size of 15 to make the tour viable and a maximum group size of 20 (museums/galleries) or 25 (walking tours).  Normal cost £10 per person.

Temporary Covid-19 groups policy: Group sizes must be determined individually (and will be SMALLER) whilst COVID-Secure guidance for business remains in place.  Expect a cost of £12.50 – £15 per person under these circumstances.

Booking

Confirmation of the booking is by email, once dates and tour are mutually agreed

In the case of extended tours (more than 2 days), a non-refundable 20% deposit will normally be required to secure the booking.  If so, this will be confirmed via email.

Payment  (for direct clients)

I will invoice you 14 days before the tour.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque or securely via paypal

For payments via paypal, I will send you an invoice and a secure payment request by email.  It is quick, easy and secure to respond (you do not need a paypal account)

Payment should be received in full 4 days before the tour (unless otherwise agreed)

Cancellation Charges:

Cancellation 10 days or less before the tour – 50% of agreed fee

Cancellation 4 days or less before the tour – the full fee is payable

Temporary Covid-19 cancellation policy: If cancellation is due to a change in government rules and regulations re Covid-19, compared to those in place and accepted at the time of booking, then a full refund will be available, based on a fair assessment of the individual circumstances.  This applies to government rules in the UK and in the client’s home country.  For example, I would expect to give a full refund in cases of a new ban on international travel, or a new or increased requirement to quarantine, or if a travel ban within the UK prohibited your itinerary.

All bookings will be accepted on the basis of mutual flexibility regarding the itinerary, and on the understanding that an agreed itinerary may need to change on the day, to meet any change in government regulations or site specific issues.

Refunds

Refunds to direct clients by Caroline will be made in line with my cancellation policy.  As of March 2020 paypal fees from the original transaction cannot be returned.

Virtual Tours and Lectures

Please see specific page for my fees and terms and conditions.

Covid-19 Guidance

For those who can’t travel to London at the moment, please see my “Virtual Tours and Lectures” page for virtual alternatives during this difficult time.

Covid-19 has made planning a holiday, or even a day trip, more challenging.  Let me help take away the stress and navigate you around London, so you can just relax and enjoy your day!  I am up to date with all the individual tourist sites’ safety policies, can suggest pleasant cafes and restaurants that are open and can take you on the quieter backstreets, which are more interesting anyway.

I hold the “We’re Good to Go” Covid-19 industry standard, in partnership with the National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  This means that I am following government and industry Covid-19 guidelines, have a risk assessment in place and processes to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

The “We’re Good To Go” scheme has been recognised internationally by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC)’s “Safe Travels” stamp.  This means it meets the WTTC’s global standardised health and hygiene protocols, designed with the World Health Organisation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

I will follow the “Covid-19 Guidance for Tour Guiding” – a code of conduct agreed between the Institute of Tourist Guiding, the British Guild of Tourist Guides, The Association of Professional Tourist Guides and Driver-Guides Association:

Covid-19 Guidance for Tour Guiding

When working via tour operators and travel trade I will liaise with them regarding their risk assessments. I have carried out my own risk assessment for tours when I am booked directly by clients and safety measures will be communicated to / discussed with clients during booking.

From 19 July 2021 (confirmed by the government):

Most legal restrictions eg on social contact, face coverings and social distancing have been lifted.  However, businesses still need to follow government guidance and take precautions.  Caroline has therefore created a streamlined risk assessment.

* Caroline will self-isolate at the first appearance of symptoms of Covid-19, or when she or someone in her household tests positive for Covid-19, and when requested to do so by the NHS Test & Trace system

* Caroline will turn away clients if they have symptoms of Covid-19 and she will encourage them not to attend her tours if they should be self-isolating according to the latest government guidance

*Caroline will continue to maintain a record of clients names and contact details to assist the NHS test and trace system

*Other mitigations will be discussed with clients when booking and will include issues such as; group size / outside tours where possible / consideration of the location for tours / consideration of the day of the week and time of day for tours / consideration re the wearing of face coverings especially indoors etc
